China Lake Alliance Background

Originally formed in 1993 in response to BRAC (as IWV 2000). Formed under the existing IWV Economic Development Corporation (IWV ECD) as a 501 (c) 4 - Social welfare/benefit, non-profit corporation. The Alliance was formed as a membership funded, with a volunteer Board of Directors. At that time, the CLA became a Standing Committee within the IWV EDC. The CLA and EDC became two separate corporations in November 2017, with the CLA remaining a 501 (c) 4 corporation, while the IWV EDC established itself as a new 501 (c) 3 corporation.
